China has launched more nuclear submarines than the United States over the past five years, according to a new IISS report. From 2021 to 2025, China launched 10 subs totaling 79,000 tons, while the US launched seven subs totaling 55,500 tons. The buildup threatens America’s long-held naval advantage as US shipyards struggle with delays and budget overruns.
