DefendEye, a drone technology company based in Poland and the United States, has raised a new investment round led by NovaCapital. The funding will help the company increase production of its Overwatch Drone, an autonomous AI drone built for first responders.
The company says the drone can launch within seconds without needing a trained pilot. It is designed to give emergency teams live information before responders reach the scene.

The funding round was led by NovaCapital of Italy. Other investors include ff Venture Capital, Hard2beat, Sunfish Partners and In-Q-Tel.
Emergency teams often need information before they can safely enter an area. Traditional drones usually require a trained pilot, equipment setup and time before they can start collecting video.
DefendEye is designed to reduce that delay. The company says its drone can be launched in seconds from a rugged, weather-resistant tube.
The Overwatch Drone works without a pilot controlling it during flight. Its base station includes a tactical LTE modem that connects the system to the cloud.
This allows incident commanders, dispatchers and remote teams to view live video from the drone. The information can help teams understand what is happening before they arrive at the location.

The drone is still focused on a specific use case: providing aerial awareness for emergency and public safety teams. Its value also depends on reliable communications, suitable operating conditions and the ability of organizations to deploy the system effectively.
