Elbit Systems has introduced the SkyStriker tactical loitering munition for covert and precise airstrikes.
The autonomous system is designed to locate, track, and strike enemy targets with minimal operator exposure. It is built for modern military missions that require speed, accuracy, and stealth.
SkyStriker works as both a surveillance drone and a guided attack system. Military operators can launch it, monitor targets, and conduct strikes using a single platform. This dual role reduces the need for separate reconnaissance and attack assets during operations.
The loitering munition carries either a 5-kilogram or 10-kilogram warhead inside its fuselage. Operators can select the payload depending on the mission requirements and target type. The smaller warhead allows longer flight time, while the larger option provides stronger strike capability.
SkyStriker Silent Electric Propulsion Covert
One of SkyStriker’s main features is its electric propulsion system. Unlike fuel-powered drones, electric motors produce very little noise and generate a smaller thermal signature. This makes the aircraft harder to detect during low-altitude operations.
The low acoustic signature allows forces to approach targets quietly before launching attacks. According to the company, the system is designed to act as a silent attacker capable of surprising enemy positions. This feature is especially important for Special Forces and maneuverable ground troops operating close to hostile areas.
SkyStriker can also travel at high speed when needed. The system reportedly reaches targets 20 kilometers away in 10 minutes. During the final attack phase, it can dive toward a target at speeds of up to 300 knots.

The munition is designed to remain over a target area for extended periods. With a 5-kilogram warhead, it can loiter for up to two hours before striking. When equipped with the larger 10-kilogram warhead, endurance drops to about 1 hour.
Autonomous Navigation and Re-Engagement Features
SkyStriker uses autonomous navigation during both cruising and loitering phases. The system relies on an advanced electro-optical seeker with dual CCD and infrared sensors for day-and-night target tracking. These sensors help operators identify targets in different weather and visibility conditions.

The munition includes automatic target tracking technology that locks onto selected targets before impact. Once the target is identified, the system guides itself during the strike phase with limited operator intervention. This capability improves precision and reduces the chance of missing moving targets.
Another important feature is its abort-and-reengage capability. Operators can stop an attack if conditions change or civilians enter the target area. The aircraft can then circle back and strike again when the situation becomes clear.
SkyStriker is also designed for rapid field deployment. Military units can launch it using canister-based or catapult launch systems, depending on operational needs. Its compact storage design and single-truck mobility make transportation easier for frontline forces.
The system requires minimal maintenance and can reportedly be operated by one person. This reduces logistical demands and allows smaller military teams to use precision strike technology without large support crews. Such flexibility is becoming increasingly important as armed forces focus on mobile and decentralized combat operations.
