GE Vernova has announced plans to acquire Robotech Automation as it expands its robotics and automation capabilities.
The deal strengthens GE Vernova’s efforts to modernize manufacturing operations and improve factory efficiency across its global supply chain. The companies expect the deal to close in the early third quarter of 2026.
Robotech Automation is based in Longueuil, Quebec, near Montreal. The private company employs around 35 people. It specializes in robotic system design, engineering, and industrial integration services.
The company works with manufacturing partners to develop automation systems for industrial operations. These systems help factories improve speed, consistency, and workplace safety. Robotech also supports deployment and maintenance for automated production equipment.
GE Vernova said the acquisition will support its Advanced Research Center(ARC). The center focuses on developing advanced technologies for manufacturing and energy systems. Robotics and automation are becoming an increasingly important part of that strategy.

Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova, said Robotech brings specialized expertise that will help speed up the company’s automation programs. He said the acquisition adds technical talent and strengthens robotics deployment capabilities. He also described the move as a focused investment in operational excellence.
GE Vernova became an independent company following its separation from General Electric in 2024. The company operates across power generation, electrification, and wind energy businesses. It currently employs around 85,000 people in nearly 100 countries.
The company said its technologies enable affordable, reliable energy systems. It is also investing heavily in projects linked to the global energy transition. That includes efforts to reduce carbon emissions while expanding access to electricity.
GE Vernova has maintained operations in Canada for more than 130 years. The company employs over 2,400 workers across six offices and manufacturing facilities nationwide. It supports customers in power generation, transmission, storage, and grid management.
The company also highlighted its role in advanced nuclear energy projects. It is working with Ontario Power Generation to build the Western world’s first small modular reactor in Toronto. Small modular reactors are compact nuclear plants designed to generate low-carbon electricity with a smaller footprint than traditional reactors.
GE Vernova said its technologies currently help produce about 43% of Canada’s electricity. The company supports energy infrastructure used by industries, businesses, and communities across the country. It sees automation as an important part of improving future energy production systems.

Robotech Automation is already involved in several projects within GE Vernova’s supply chain network. These projects include operations at factories in Schenectady, New York, and Charleroi, Pennsylvania. Robotech co-founders Carl Thibault and Francis Bourbonnais said the company’s employees played a major role in its growth.
