Venus Aerospace has opened a new propulsion test stand at the Houston Spaceport in Texas. The facility will help the company test its rotating detonation rocket engine at higher thrust and for longer periods, supporting its work on future space and defense systems.
Venus Aerospace built the new test stand with support from the Texas Space Commission’s Space Exploration and Aeronautics Research Fund. The company completed the facility on time and within its planned budget.
The new facility addresses a key challenge in rocket development: having enough space and equipment to test powerful engines under realistic conditions. It gives Venus more capacity as it moves from engine development toward larger integrated propulsion systems.

The stand allows Venus to run tests at higher thrust levels and for longer durations. This helps the company recreate conditions that its propulsion systems could face during real missions.
At the opening ceremony, Venus Aerospace also conducted a live hot-fire test of its rotating detonation rocket engine. The technology uses controlled detonations to produce rocket thrust and is being developed for defense and space applications.
The new stand does not mean the technology is ready for widespread commercial use. Venus still needs continued ground testing and development before its propulsion systems can be used across customer missions.
The opening comes as Venus Aerospace expands its business and technical work. The company raised $91 million in a Series B round in 2026 and is continuing development after reporting the world’s first successful flight test of a high-thrust rotating detonation rocket engine in May 2025.
The facility could help Venus increase its testing pace as it works toward customer applications. It also adds more aerospace testing infrastructure in Texas, supported partly by public investment.
