Albany Engineered Composites has extended its agreement with Boeing to continue making composite fuselage frames for the 787 Dreamliner. The company will keep producing around 300 different composite frames, helping Boeing support ongoing 787 production.
The work is being carried out by Albany Engineered Composites, a segment of Albany International Corp. The company has supplied composite fuselage frames for Boeing’s 787 program for more than a decade.
The agreement covers frames used in several parts of the aircraft, including forward Sections 41 and 43 and aft Section 47. Albany has been making frames for Sections 41 and 43 since Boeing first awarded the work in 2014.

The frames are made from advanced composite materials. These materials can provide strong and lightweight structures, which are useful in modern aircraft where weight and durability are important.
According to Business Wire, the continued contract will allow Albany to support the planned increase in 787 production. The company says it will focus on consistent quality, reliable supply and improving manufacturing efficiency.
The Boeing 787 component work is performed at Albany’s facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, the announcement does not provide details about the contract’s financial value or its exact duration.
