Wistron has opened its first US manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas, where it will produce NVIDIA’s advanced AI superchips used in next-generation artificial intelligence systems.
Backed by a combined $700 million investment, the new plant marks an important step in expanding domestic AI manufacturing while supporting jobs, supply chains, and the growing demand for high-performance computing. Wistron’s new manufacturing plant covers 324,000 square feet.
The opening ceremony brought together Wistron executives, Taiwanese government representatives, and local officials from Fort Worth. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Wistron Chairman Simon Lin to mark the facility’s launch. The event highlighted the growing importance of domestic manufacturing in the expanding AI industry.
The factory, known as the D1 facility, currently operates two production lines. One line is manufacturing the NVIDIA GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip, while the second is being prepared to produce the NVIDIA Vera Rubin Superchip. The company plans to scale production throughout the year to manufacture tens of thousands of boards every month.
These superchips serve as the computing engines behind advanced AI platforms. They provide the processing power needed to train and run complex artificial intelligence models. As AI applications continue to grow, demand for this type of hardware is increasing across industries.

Investment Supports Manufacturing Growth
The Fort Worth project represents a combined investment of approximately $700 million in advanced manufacturing. The facility has already created more than 500 jobs across different sectors. Wistron expects employment to reach around 1,000 workers by the end of the year.
The project supports a wide range of skilled professions beyond electronics assembly. Construction workers, electricians, plumbers, manufacturing technicians, and engineers all contributed to developing and operating the facility. The expansion reflects the wider economic impact of advanced manufacturing investments.
During the ceremony, Jensen Huang said manufacturing remains a key foundation for every country’s economy.
He noted that building semiconductor plants, packaging facilities, computer system factories, and AI infrastructure across the US supports industrial growth. Huang said these investments are helping strengthen America’s manufacturing base.
Simon Lin also highlighted the broader significance of the project. He said AI development benefits communities as well as businesses by supporting future innovation. Lin added that continued investment in AI infrastructure will contribute to the next stage of technological progress.
The Fort Worth factory also supports NVIDIA’s broader manufacturing strategy. The company has committed to producing up to $500 billion worth of advanced AI platforms in the US. Wistron’s facility forms one part of that long-term manufacturing expansion.
Superchips Drive Local Growth
Before construction began, Wistron designed and tested the entire factory in a virtual environment. Engineers created a digital twin of the facility using NVIDIA’s software platforms and AI technologies. This virtual model allowed the company to evaluate factory layouts and production processes before physical construction started.

The simulation included NVIDIA Omniverse, Metropolis libraries, Nemotron and Cosmos AI models, PhysicsNeMo, and other open software frameworks. These tools helped engineers identify efficient equipment placement and optimize assembly operations. They also supported worker training before production lines became operational.
Using a digital twin reduces the need for costly changes after construction. Problems can be identified and corrected in the virtual environment before equipment is installed. This approach helps shorten deployment time and improve manufacturing efficiency.
The virtual design process also supports workforce preparation. Employees can learn standard operating procedures in simulated production environments before working on actual equipment. This allows factories to begin operations more smoothly while maintaining consistent manufacturing standards.
Building Future AI Infrastructure
During the opening ceremony, NVIDIA unveiled the first GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip produced at the Fort Worth facility. Jensen Huang signed the first unit manufactured on-site. The event symbolized the beginning of full-scale production at the factory.
Huang described the AI system powered by the GB300 Grace Blackwell Ultra Superchip as one of the world’s most powerful AI computing platforms.
He explained that each complete system contains around 1.5 million individual components, weighs approximately two tons, and is valued at nearly $4 million. Despite this complexity, the company is manufacturing these systems at high volume to meet growing global demand.
Modern AI infrastructure depends on much more than advanced chips. It also requires reliable factories, efficient supply chains, skilled workers, and large-scale production capacity. The Fort Worth plant has been built to support these requirements as AI adoption expands worldwide.
Artificial intelligence systems are used in scientific research, healthcare, manufacturing, finance, transportation, and cloud computing. As these applications become more common, demand for specialized computing hardware continues to rise. The company continues to work with manufacturing partners to build advanced AI systems closer to its customers.
