Airbus Defence and Space has signed a new agreement with Brave1, Ukraine’s government-backed defense innovation platform.
The partnership aims to speed up the development and testing of new military technologies. It also strengthens cooperation between European industry and Ukraine’s growing defense technology sector.
Airbus and Brave1 Expand Cooperation
Brave1 connects Ukrainian government agencies, the armed forces, and private companies working on defense projects. It helps move new ideas from research and prototypes into equipment that soldiers can use. This process enables new technologies to reach the field much more quickly.
Under the agreement, Airbus and Brave1 will create joint working groups for different defense projects. These teams will support early research, product development, and upgrades to existing military equipment. The partnership covers every stage from concept to operational use.
Airbus will also join Brave1’s “Test in Ukraine” program. The program allows new technologies to be tested in real operational conditions instead of only in laboratories. Engineers can then improve systems using direct feedback from battlefield use.

Battlefield Experience Shapes Future Military Systems
Brave1 says Ukraine’s wartime environment has changed how defense technologies are developed. According to Chief Operating Officer Iryna Zabolotna, research and development cycles now take days instead of months or years.
She said Airbus’ long experience in aerospace, combined with Ukraine’s rapid development, will help build better defense solutions.
Airbus will also take part in the Defence Tech Valley summit in Lviv. The event brings together defense companies, technology developers, investors, and government officials. It focuses on new military technologies and future defense innovation.
Europe Deepens Defense Partnership With Ukraine
European countries are paying close attention to Ukraine’s experience in modern warfare. Many governments see the conflict as an opportunity to improve future defense systems through real-world testing. This has increased cooperation between Ukraine and several European partners.

In June, Ukraine introduced the Brave International framework to support joint defense technology projects with countries including Norway, France, Germany, and Lithuania. The program includes more than 100 million euros in grants and other support to speed up innovation. It is designed to strengthen defense cooperation and help develop new military capabilities.
Earlier this year, the European Commission also launched the BraveTech EU initiative. The program includes a 35-million-euro testing platform for evaluating new defense technologies under conditions similar to those in Ukraine. The testing system helps developers understand how equipment performs before wider deployment.
The Airbus-Brave1 partnership reflects a growing shift toward faster defense innovation built on real operational experience. As cooperation between Ukraine and European partners expands, new technologies are expected to move from development to deployment more quickly.
