The sky over California witnessed another precise, routine-looking launch on Sunday, but this one marked a major milestone.

SpaceX completed its 600th successful landing of an orbital-class rocket, marking a defining moment in modern spaceflight.

The mission lifted off on April 19 from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base. At exactly 12:03 p.m. EDT (1603 GMT), a Falcon 9 rocket rose into the sky carrying 25 Starlink satellites.

The satellites were deployed into low Earth orbit just over an hour later, continuing the rapid expansion of the company’s global broadband network.

With this launch, the total number of Starlink satellites in orbit has crossed 10,275. The growing constellation plays a key role in providing internet services worldwide, especially in remote regions. However, the spotlight was firmly on what happened after liftoff.

About eight minutes into the flight, the rocket’s first-stage booster, identified as Booster B1097, began its return to Earth. It descended steadily and landed on the droneship named “Of Course I Still Love You,” positioned in the Pacific Ocean. The landing was smooth and controlled, adding another success to SpaceX’s growing record.

“Falcon lands for the 600th time!” SpaceX announced the achievement on social media in real time. The company added, “Falcon 9 launches 25 Starlink satellites from California ahead of completing the 600th overall landing of an orbital-class rocket.”

This was not the first flight for Booster B1097. In fact, it marked the eighth successful mission and landing for this particular rocket stage, reflecting the reliability of reusable rocket technology.

Founded by Elon Musk, SpaceX has steadily pushed the boundaries of reusability since its early days. The company reached 500 successful landings in September 2025, making this latest milestone come in less than a year.

Sunday’s mission also marked the 47th Falcon 9 launch of 2026 and the 630th launch overall for the rocket family. What once seemed like a risky experiment has now become routine: launch, deploy, return, and land.

Yet even in its routine, the achievement carries weight. Each landing reflects years of engineering, precision, and persistence, quietly reshaping humanity’s reach into space.
