Rheinmetall has unveiled its new Skyspotter counter-drone system during Eurosatory 2026, one of the world’s largest defence and security exhibitions taking place in Paris from 15 to 19 June.
The company is presenting the system as a dedicated solution for detecting and tracking drones around critical infrastructure. The launch expands Rheinmetall’s existing range of counter-UAS technologies.
The introduction comes amid a rise in drone-related incidents across Europe.
Airports have been particularly affected by unauthorized drone activity, which can disrupt flight operations and create significant security concerns. These incidents have raised concerns among authorities about both accidental intrusions and deliberate hostile actions.
Skyspotter Targets Aerial Threats
Skyspotter is designed as a multi-sensor early warning system. It combines different detection technologies to identify airborne threats at an early stage. The system can then track drone movements and provide real-time information to security personnel.

By combining several sensor types, Skyspotter aims to improve detection accuracy compared with relying on a single sensor. Rheinmetall says Skyspotter supports security forces by delivering continuous situational awareness around protected locations. The system is intended to help operators make informed decisions while maintaining normal operations whenever possible.
