Setting the record for the longest journey walked by a humanoid robot, Agibot A2 secured a spot in the history books by covering over 100km across China.

The human-shaped robot Agibot A2, created by Agibot Innovation (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd., walked 106.286km (66.04 mi; 348,707 ft 4.322 in) from 10 to 13 November.

Within 56 hours, 7 minutes and 49 seconds, AgiBot A2 walked all the way from Jingi Lake in Suzhou to the Bund in Shanghai.

To prepare for this journey, the robot underwent hundreds of hours of testing to ensure it would not fall during the walk.

Before the main attempt, on 17 August, AgiBot A2 successfully completed a 24-hour fully autonomous walk in very hot weather, with temperatures close to 40°C. This test walk was streamed live online.

During the record-breaking journey, the robot was neither guided by a human nor controlled remotely; it used its own artificial intelligence to sense its surroundings and decide how to move safely.

AgiBot A2 has a digital screen on its face that allows it to wink and show facial expressions that amazed people walking, cycling, or driving past.

The robot’s battery had to be changed 15 times, and the support team took a 17-hour rest break. At one point, AgiBot A2 stopped for seven minutes to avoid heavy rain.

Along the way, the robot walked through city streets, beside busy roads, and along beautiful coastlines, taking in many scenic views.

AgiBot A2’s  journey ended at the famous Bund waterfront promenade. There, it pointed across the Huangpu River toward the Oriental Pearl TV Tower to show it had reached the finish line. It then waved to the crowd and posed for photos with curious onlookers.

As a new symbol of advanced technology, AgiBot A2’s achievement has earned it wide attention, and the robot is now being celebrated as a true technological star.
