Rolls-Royce has completed a $1 billion investment in its manufacturing and testing facilities in Indiana. The decade-long project has expanded the company’s ability to build and test advanced engines for U.S. military aircraft and other platforms.
The investment is the largest Rolls-Royce has made in the United States. It has modernized the company’s Indianapolis campus and added new engine testing facilities, including ground test systems and an altitude test facility in West Lafayette.
The project is aimed at strengthening U.S. defense manufacturing and keeping more advanced engine production in the country. Rolls-Royce says the upgraded facilities will help support major military programs and meet future production needs.

The Indianapolis campus builds and tests engines for several aircraft and defense platforms. These include engines for the B-52 strategic bomber, C-130J, V-22 Osprey, MQ-25A Stingray, and the U.S. Army’s future MV-75 Cheyenne program.
The upgraded site can now perform more complete engine testing. The company says this expanded capability will allow engineers to test engines under different conditions before they are delivered for use.
Rolls-Royce employs about 3,500 people in Indianapolis, including workers represented by the United Auto Workers. The company also supports thousands of additional jobs through its Indiana supply chain.
The investment is part of a wider U.S. expansion by Rolls-Royce. Over the past decade, the company says it has invested more than $1.5 billion in U.S. facilities and nearly $2.5 billion in research and development across the country.
The Indiana campus also houses LibertyWorks, Rolls-Royce’s advanced research organization. Its work includes high-temperature materials and propulsion technology, supported by a $75 million, 10-year partnership with Purdue University.

The completed investment strengthens Indianapolis as an important center for advanced engine manufacturing and testing. It could also help Rolls-Royce support future U.S. defense programs while keeping skilled manufacturing jobs and related work in Indiana.
