UK Startup Samphire Launches AI Feature to Personalize Menstrual Symptom Relief

Samphire Neuroscience's CycleSync uses AI to personalize neurostimulation sessions based on individual menstrual cycle patterns, helping women manage mood swings, pain, and fatigue.

A UK-based neurotechnology company has unveiled a new AI-powered system that adapts neurostimulation sessions to match each user’s unique menstrual cycle patterns.

The feature, called CycleSync, works with Samphire Neuroscience’s wearable devices to help women manage symptoms like mood swings, pain, and fatigue by delivering targeted brain stimulation at the right time.

Samphire Neuroscience launched CycleSync on February 9, a new AI-driven scheduling system for its at-home neurostimulation devices. The feature tracks user data over time, analyzes symptoms like stress and anxiety, and adjusts stimulation sessions automatically based on individual patterns. Users stay in control and can pause or modify scheduling anytime.

Samphire Neuroscience is a UK-based neurotechnology startup founded by Dr Emilė Radytė, who serves as CEO, and her team. The company develops wearable devices that use neurostimulation to help women manage menstrual and hormone-related symptoms. The CycleSync feature is now available through the Samphire app.

Many companies assume all women follow a predictable 28-day menstrual cycle, but real-world data shows enormous variation in when symptoms appear and how individuals respond to treatment. CycleSync addresses this by personalizing care based on actual user patterns rather than outdated averages. This could be especially helpful for people with endometriosis, PMDD, PMS, PCOS, and other hormone-linked conditions.

The brain controls key hormones like estrogen and progesterone that impact the menstrual cycle and runs on electrical rhythms that shape how people think and feel. Samphire’s neurostimulation delivers targeted electrical pulses to help keep the brain balanced during hormonal shifts. CycleSync tracks user symptoms, logs biological changes like ovulation, and incorporates feedback on how users respond to stimulation. The AI algorithm then adapts session timing and dosing accordingly.

Clinical studies support the technology’s effectiveness. A trial published in IEEE looked at users of Samphire’s Nettle device for PMS and menstrual pain. Results showed that 67% of participants reported mood improvements within one cycle and 72% experienced reduced pain within the same period. About 97% of users found the device easy to integrate into daily life. The new AI feature aims to improve these results further by tailoring sessions to each individual.

The technology is designed for hormone-related symptoms and conditions but may not work for everyone. Users need to consistently log data and feedback for the AI to learn their patterns effectively. The company states that user data is never sold and is used only to understand real-world responses to neurostimulation. More research is needed to confirm long-term benefits across diverse populations.

This launch sets a new standard for how at-home neurostimulation should work by treating people as individuals rather than averages. Dr Emilė Radytė, CEO of Samphire Neuroscience, said the data has enabled the company to build personalized session scheduling that reflects reality. As AI continues to improve, features like CycleSync could change how millions of women experience menstrual symptoms and access relief.
