MassRobotics has unveiled the 11 startups selected for its fifth annual Healthcare Robotics Startup Catalyst, a five-month mentorship program running from January to May 2026 designed to fast-track robotic innovations in clinical care, hospital logistics, and lab automation. The cohort features AI-guided dental robots, character-based assistive robots, and synthetic muscle technology, all vying to bridge the gap between prototype and patient.
The future of healthcare is being built not just in giant corporate labs, but in nimble startups worldwide. This week, MassRobotics, the largest independent robotics hub in the United States, announced the 11 innovative companies joining its prestigious 2026 Healthcare Robotics Startup Catalyst program. This fifth cohort represents a global push to turn cutting-edge robotic concepts into real-world clinical tools, from the pharmacy counter to the operating room.
“The Healthcare Robotics Startup Catalyst was created to bridge the gap between technological possibility and clinical reality,” said Juan Necochea, Strategic Partnerships Director at MassRobotics. The program’s hybrid structure connects founders with a powerful network, including an expanded Medical Advisory Board of practicing clinicians and a specialized network of industry experts. This ensures technologies are not just clever, but clinically relevant and ready for the rigorous path to market.

So, who are the innovators? The cohort is remarkably diverse. Hesy Tech is developing an AI-guided robotic platform for preventive dentistry to automate routine hygiene. Enchanted Tools is taking a unique approach with its Mirokaï character-based robots, designed to guide and reassure patients in care settings while handling simple logistics. In the pharmacy, Inception Robotics aims to combat technician burnout with MedSort, a robot that autonomously sorts returned medications.
The selection underscores major trends: a push for dexterity and touch, a focus on accessibility, and the use of AI and data. Lupa Robotics is building a massive human dexterity dataset captured via sensor gloves to train a foundational model for robot hands. Ras Labs brings a hardware focus with its Tactile Fingertip and Synthetic Muscle technologies, giving robots a human-like sense of touch. To make advanced surgery more accessible, Revolve Surgical is creating a zero-footprint surgical robotics platform for use anywhere, from major hospitals to rural clinics.

The program is strategically structured to propel these ideas forward. A key milestone is Healthcare in Robotics Week in mid-March, featuring in-person events, mentoring, and investor meetings at MassRobotics’ Boston headquarters. The journey culminates in a showcase at the Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston on May 27 and 28, where the cohort will exhibit on the show floor.
The support extends beyond networking. Founders will receive targeted mentorship on the non-technical hurdles that often sink startups: FDA approval processes, cybersecurity, intellectual property strategy, and manufacturing at scale. This holistic support system is critical in the highly regulated healthcare sector, where a brilliant robot is only the first step.

For the participating startups, the value is immense. Humotech, a 2025 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award winner that uses data to optimize prosthetic feet, and others gain validation and visibility. They join an alumni network that has a track record of attracting investment and forging industry partnerships.
By curating this mix of vision and practical guidance, MassRobotics is doing more than just accelerating 11 companies. It is actively shaping the pipeline of technologies that will define the next decade of healthcare—making it more efficient, accessible, and capable through intelligent automation. The robots coming to a clinic near you may well have gotten their start in this very catalyst.
