The Reliable Autonomy System is designed as a fully certifiable solution that can automate aircraft operations from start to finish—taxi, takeoff, enroute navigation, and landing. By enabling continuous, autonomous flight, RAS offers significant advantages in safety, efficiency, and cost.

Unlike traditional uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), which often rely on custom-built platforms, Reliable’s approach integrates autonomy into existing, type-certified aircraft. This means operators can continue using trusted platforms while unlocking the benefits of advanced automation. According to the company, the system reduces operating costs to a fraction of those of legacy systems, while introducing multiple layers of redundancy, advanced navigation, and robust safety mechanisms.

By making proven aircraft autonomous, operators gain not only flexibility but also enhanced mission readiness. This technology directly supports both military and civilian requirements, allowing uncrewed aircraft to operate seamlessly in shared airspace.

By automating logistics and mobility operations, the Air Force can increase mission tempo, reduce risks to personnel, and ensure supplies and equipment reach even the most remote or contested environments.

A Growing Partnership with the Air Force

This contract builds on Reliable Robotics’ growing collaboration with the U.S. Air Force. The company has previously participated in a range of research projects, exercises, and contracts to advance autonomous aviation. Earlier initiatives included work on integrating autonomy into the Cessna 208B Caravan and even larger platforms like the KC-135 Stratotanker, a mainstay of aerial refueling operations.
