US-founded tech company Anduril UK has entered an exclusive teaming agreement with British aerospace giant GKN Aerospace to collaborate on the British Army’s Project NYX and Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform programme. The partnership solidifies Anduril UK’s growing UK supply chain, which already supports an estimated 50,000 jobs, and pairs cutting-edge autonomous systems with over 265 years of British industrial heritage.
The future of British Army logistics and frontline support is taking shape through a landmark industrial partnership. Anduril UK, the British subsidiary of the US defense technology company, has announced an exclusive teaming agreement with GKN Aerospace, a cornerstone of the UK’s aerospace sector. The collaboration is centered on Project NYX, the British Army’s ambitious initiative to develop a family of autonomous systems, and the broader Land Autonomous Collaborative Platform (LACP) programme. This move, reported by Anduril UK, deepens the company’s commitment to sovereign capability, building on a network of over 100 suppliers already engaged across the country.

Under this strategic pact, GKN Aerospace will become the dedicated airframe manufacturing and electrical integration partner for Anduril UK on Project NYX and future endeavours. With a headquarters in the UK and a manufacturing legacy spanning over 265 years, GKN brings unparalleled industrial expertise to the table. The collaboration is expected to act as a catalyst for growth at GKN’s facility in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, which already employs nearly 1,000 people, with potential for significant job creation in emerging autonomous markets.
“This partnership with GKN Aerospace is an exciting next step in our journey to provide and deliver innovative, sovereign solutions to the UK MOD,” said Rich Drake, Managing Director of Anduril UK. He emphasized the commitment to utilizing the full breadth of British engineering talent to equip service personnel with novel solutions for evolving threats.
This agreement is not Anduril UK’s first foray into British industry collaboration for Project NYX. The company has actively built a consortium that includes UK-based innovators like Atom Performance Technologies, Flarebright, Olsen Actuators, and Isembard. This expanding ecosystem is a key part of Anduril UK’s strategy to power technology and innovation across the UK and Europe while strengthening the domestic defence industrial base, which the company states already supports an estimated 50,000 UK jobs.

The partnership’s significance was echoed by Dave Bond, Senior Vice President of Defence Technology for GKN Aerospace, who called it “an extremely exciting partnership, combining cutting edge technologies and world-class industrial capabilities.” He noted the aim is to bring new defense solutions to the field rapidly, signalling the start of a deep, long-term strategic relationship.
Adding another layer of advanced capability, Archer Aviation will also collaborate with the team, bringing its expertise in eVTOL (electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing) aircraft development and hybrid propulsion to meet the British Army’s specific operational needs. This creates a powerful triad: Anduril as the lead systems integrator, GKN as the manufacturing backbone, and Archer providing next-generation aviation technology.
The broader UK defence sector has welcomed the news. Andrew Kinniburgh, Defence Director-General of Make UK, stated the partnership is a “vote of confidence” in the UK’s world-leading defence sector, combining a legendary engineering business with a technology-led innovator to create highly skilled jobs. Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West, also praised the development, highlighting its importance for local jobs, skills growth, and positioning the region at the forefront of cutting-edge industry.
