ITER’s 330-Tonne Magnet Reaches Half Its Operating Current!

Imagine a magnet weighing 330 tonnes carrying an electrical current of 34,000 amperes! ITER has just achieved a major milestone in fusion technology.
ITER’s Toroidal Field Coil Number 17 has successfully completed testing at 34 kiloamperes that’s half of its nominal operating current at the magnet cold test facility.
From extreme cold to enormous electrical currents ITER is taking another important step towards demonstrating the potential of fusion energy!
